Futura

I try to always fit in studio visits whenever I’m in NY. I bumped into Timothy (13th Witness) the other night and he invited me over. I happened to be in Brooklyn that day so I moseyed on over. Hanging out with Futura is always a delight. He keeps his studio vibrant with all sorts of military paraphernalia that is inline with the secretive nature that Futura feels comfortable residing in. Later he invited me over to his pad to play some video games. The man is still a child at heart.
Thanks again for your time sir!

*** Take note of an old EM article we wrote on Futura.

Brooklyn Graffiti on NPR's "All Things Considered"

You know graffiti has officially hit mainstream American culture when NPR’s All Things Considered is covering it.
Centered on the plethora of graffiti in Brooklyn and the new community art, event, and retail space, Alphabeta (Charlie Halsey, one of the founders of Alphabeta is shown above) NPR explores why New York City officials are already wary of the new spot, despite the fact that it’s only been open three weeks and has a completely clean record.
"New York City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. has made the eradication of graffiti a personal mission", writes NPR’s Margot Adler. But what about all the global recognition graffiti and street art receives as a legitimate art from?
"Andrew Michael Ford, the director of the Ad Hoc Art Gallery in Brooklyn, says he knows street art has come of age when there are art shows like the one at the Tate: ‘It sent a wave around the world that it's legitimate, relevant and people need to pay attention to it,’ says Ford, who adds that he believes graffiti art and other forms of street art will be appearing in more museums in the future", Adler continues.

WOOSTER COLLECTIVE.

(Kostas Seremetis)

The Wooster Collective was founded in 2001. This site is dedicated to showcasing and celebrating ephemeral art placed on streets in cities around the world. The founders are Marc and Sara...two of the coolest people on earth. True patrons and supporters of the arts. They recently held a salon in their office. A get together for art collectors, gallery owners, artists and fans. Special guest speakers included Kostas Seremetis, Christa Carr of Taschen Books and Matt Barber of Paper Monster. The crowd was intimate, intelligent and cool. I'm looking forward to the next one!

Boneyards Interviews

Boneyards, the collaboration project between Stussy and Neighborhood, recently updated their website with an “Interviews” section. The first interview is a discussion among Paul Mittleman and Rob Abeyta Jr. from Stussy with Takishin from Neighborhood, and Tonomori Tanaka from RIP. The discussion goes in-depth on the beginning of Neighborhood and its early brand direction and design influences. It also talks about the idea behind Boneyards and the reason for this Tokyo-to-LA collaboration with Stussy. A must-read for fans and everyone interested in this eccentric industry. Check it out here.

Former male model turned art star Banksy’s face revealed at last…

Here at Supertouch we’re not in the business of unmasking our contingent of anonymous artists, but with BANKSY fervor in full swing, London’s DAILY MAIL has published an extensive feature today purporting to unmask the city’s most beloved vandal as a as a former public schoolboy from middle-class suburbia. The piece includes the artist’s alleged name and photos of the Bristol Bad Boy as a high school teenager, on vacation in Jamaica, and his childhood home along with testimony from former “friends” and family members. Is it really him? We’ll never tell, but you can read the full story for yourself HERE
